Carlsberg

Brief Story of Carlsberg Beer

J. C. Jacobsen, a philanthropist and art collector, founded Carlsberg. He amassed an art collection with his fortune, which is housed in the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in central Copenhagen.

The first brew was completed on November 10, 1847, and Carlsberg beer was first exported in 1868, with one barrel going to Edinburgh, Scotland.

The elephant, after which some of the company's lagers are named, and the swastika, whose use was discontinued in the 1930s due to its association with political parties in neighboring Germany, were among the company's original logos.

In 1882, Jacobsen's son Carl founded the Ny (New) Carlsberg brewery, forcing him to rename his own Gamle (Old) Carlsberg brewery. In 1906, the companies were merged and run by Carl, who remained in charge until his death in 1914.

In 1875, Jacobsen founded the Carlsberg Laboratory, which focused on brewing-related scientific issues. There was a Chemistry Department and a Physiology Department.

Saccharomyces carlsbergensis, the yeast used to make pale lager, was isolated by Emil Christian Hansen at the laboratory in 1883 and bears his name; it was freely shared by Carlsberg.

The Carlsberg Laboratory was also responsible for the development of the pH concept as well as advances in protein chemistry. The Carlsberg Research Centre was founded in 1972, and the Carlsberg Laboratory is a separate division of the Centre.

J.C. Jacobsen founded the Carlsberg Foundation in 1876, which was managed by trustees from the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters and supported scientific research in the fields of natural sciences, mathematics, philosophy, the humanities, and social sciences in Denmark.

Jacobsen's brewery was left to the Foundation after his death in 1887 due to a feud with his son Carl. arlsberg merged with Tuborg breweries to form United Breweries AS in 1970, and Tetley merged with Carlsberg in 1992.

In 1997, Carlsberg acquired sole ownership of Carlsberg-Tetley. Tours of the old Copenhagen brewery were once available. The brewery was closed in January 2020 for a complete renovation. It's unclear when it'll reopen.

Why is Carlsberg Beer a great choice?

Carlsberg beer is the Carlsberg group's crown jewel. Because of advancements in brewing styles, it has changed over time. J.C. Jacobsen used a technique known as bottom fermentation, which was only partially successful at first due to a lack of the necessary equipment.

But once he had enough money, he built a facility where bottom fermentation could be mined. Mechanical refrigeration was also included.

Bottom fermentation is the process of lowering the temperature of a yeast strain to between five and ten degrees Celsius, causing the yeast to work less vigorously and produce carbon dioxide more slowly. This reduces turbulence and allows yeast to precipitate earlier in its life cycle.

The question is, what is the experience of drinking the products of this brand like and how does it taste? Let's see what kind of products that this brand can offer to you as a consumer.

Let's talk about their best selling product which is the Carlsberg Danish Pilsner. Carlsberg Danish Pilsner has a silky smooth mouthfeel. The general response is that it drinks like a 4.2% beer rather than the 3.8% ABV it claims to be. It's light and refreshing, but you can taste the hops and it's also filling.

There isn't quite enough bitterness for everything to resolve itself at the end, so it sort of stalls. But it works as a compromise between what traditional lager drinkers might expect and what a true lager should taste like. This beer is good if you drink it in small sips to appreciate the flavor.

Overall, Carlsberg has been one of the leading strong lagers and is the No. 1 premium beer in the high alcohol content category.

Time to chug it up! Carlsberg still has a lot of quality and flavorsome products being produced. If you're curious about the other products of the brand, you can purchase them here in our shop and get the opportunity to taste them. Add it to the cart and buy it online now!
