Brief Story of Jose Cuervo Distillery
Jose Curevo's history began in 1758, when Jose Antonio de Cuervo purchased a piece of land in Jalisco, Tequila to cultivate and harvest the blue agave plant. This brand is made in Mexico at the La Rojeña distillery in the state of Jalisco. The distillery was formally established in 1812. It is Latin America's oldest functioning distillery. In 1900, Ana González Rubio married José Cuervo Labastida, who renamed the distillery La Rojeña and was the first to designate the tequila produced there Jose Cuervo.
Following Don Vincente's death, Jess Flores (owner of the distillery now known as La Constancia) took over operation of La Rojeña. He was the first to package tequila in damajuanas (rope-encased jugs), where it had previously only been stored in oak barrels.
Individual bottles were then used in place of damajuanas, making it easier to transfer the tequila across the border to America. In 1873, the firm carried its first three bottles across the border. This singular event marked the birth of the tequila category.
The company has remained family owned for over 250 years. For centuries, a family of entrepreneurs, inventors, and risk-takers has passed down and upheld the Jose Cuervo process. It's no surprise that Jose Cuervo is the most recognized tequila family in history.
Why is it a great choice?
Jose Cuervo is a well-known tequila brand in the nationwide. It produces a variety of tequilas, including Especial, Tradicional 100% agave tequila, Platino, Reserva de la Familia, and Authentic Margarita, all of which are ready to drink or can be mixed.
The question is, what is the experience of drinking the products of this brand like and how does it taste? Let's see what kind of products that this brand can offer to you as a consumer.
Let’s start with their best selling product which is the Jose Cuervo Especial Silver Tequilla, The aroma of this product is very light, with hints of fresh agave, white pepper, lime peel, and petrol. A large blast of sweetness on the palate can be cloying.
Lime peel, lemon sorbet, white pepper, and a slight agave flavor precede a quick finish of lime chutney and sugar cane. The professional distillers at La Rojeña created this one-of-a-kind and well-balanced blend to highlight agave, caramel, and fresh herbs in its flavor profile.
Next is the Jose Cuervo Especial Gold, It's a golden-style joven tequila created from reposado (aged) and younger tequilas. Cuervo Gold’s own story includes the leading role in the invention of The Margarita, and it is still the ideal tequila for that famous beverage. There are traces of gentle spice and mixed peels in this product. Herbs dried, agaves cooked, and honey.
When it comes to the palate, it is creamy and slightly tangy. Spices, toasted oak, agave, and a herbal note. The aftertaste is somewhat oaky and peppery. This brand's products can be chilled in the freezer and served as a crisp, smooth, frozen shot, or mixed with lime etc.
Overall, Jose Cuervo produces a wide range of tequilas that are smooth and versatile, making it an excellent tequila. Also perfect for a Long Island iced tea or other drinks where the tequila flavor isn't overpowering and the tequila's sting is lessened by other components, such as this Long Island Iced Tea.
