Brief Story of Jameson Distillery

The distillery initially opened its doors in 1780, but not under the name we know and love today. It was known as The Steins Family Bow Street Distillery until a Scotsman named John Jameson arrived in Ireland and dramatically transformed the Irish whiskey industry.

In 1786, John Jameson was appointed General Manager of the Distillery, and by 1805, he had acquired full possession of the distillery, which he then enlarged. In 1810, the whiskey was renamed The John Jameson and Sons Irish Whiskey Company, or Jameson's Irish whiskey for short. However, Jameson faced fierce competition because he was not the only distillery in Dublin at the time.

In reality, several other distilleries, including Jameson, aspired to impress and stand out from the crowd. To ensure the name and tradition of Jameson's lived on, the firm agreed to unite with previous rivals the Cork Distillers Company and John Powers to form the Irish Distillers Group in 1966.

The New Middleton Distillery opened in 1976, which meant that the Bow Street Distillery closed its doors for the last time until the outstanding visitor's center you see today opened its doors in 1997. Today, Jameson's is the world's best-selling Irish whiskey, and the history of the Bow Street distillery and its creator, John Jameson, lives on.

Why is it a great choice?

Jameson, like any other family, is made up of unique individuals. While each has their own personality, they are all members of the Jameson family, which is centered on flavor.

The question is, what is the experience of drinking the products of this brand like and how does it taste? Let's see what kind of products that this brand can offer to you as a consumer.

Let’s start with Jameson Irish Whisky, it is a blended Irish whiskey with a delicate floral scent, spiced oak, and sweet undertones. This product has an excellent smoothness and a wonderful combination of spicy, nutty, and vanilla flavors, as well as traces of sweet sherry.

Next is Jameson Bow Street 18 Years, It's a unique blend of rare pot still and grain Irish whiskeys from the Middleton distillery. After over two decades of maturation, these whiskeys are married and spend their last finishing time at the Jameson Distillery Bow Street in Dublin. This product has a strong woody influence with deep toffee aromas and spice.

Toffee and oak flavors remain consistent, with traces of leather and vanilla, as well as a slight sherry nuttiness, adding depth and complexity. The aftertaste is long and full, with the sweet toffee notes gradually fading while the toasted oak and spice linger until the very end. This is best served straight or on the rocks and can also be combined with ginger ale or drinks.

Overall, Jameson can offer you a sweet malted barley scent with butter and mild wood notes. It's no surprise that this product is perfect because it's triple-distilled in copper stills to ensure its smoothness.

There are still a lot of quality and flavorsome products that Jameson produced. If you're curious about the other products of the brand, you can purchase them here in our shop and get the opportunity to taste them.
