Brief Story of Meukow Cognac
In the 19th century, the Meukow House was established. Tsar Alexander II of Russia dispatched Auguste-Christophe and Gustav Meukow, two brothers from Silesia, to France in 1850 with orders to secure the supply of cognac for the Court.
They decided to open a commercial office in Cognac after several voyages and established the A.C. MEUKOW & Co. House on August 1, 1862. The company grew rapidly from the beginning, as evidenced by the prestigious events held around the world, thanks to the influence of illustrious shareholders such as Henri Bouraud, who was Mayor of Cognac from 1849 to 1869.
Meukow joined the Compagnie de Guyenne, a family-owned and independent company founded by Michel Coste in 1969. Meukow Cognacs has continued to beef up and develop their range since that time, thanks to the support of the group's commercial structure.
Meukow is now available in over 80 countries. Philippe Coste, Michel's son, now runs the company with the help of his two sisters, Marie-Laure Brugerolle and Céline Viard.
