Trapiche Merlot is made from 100% Merlot grapes grown in the area around the Mendoza River, which flows through the province of Mendoza in Argentina. Argentinian Merlot tends to be a delicate yet powerful grape that is rich in blackcurrant, cedar and pepper spices. Argentinian Merlot performs very well in the cool, high-altitude areas of Patagonia and the Uco Valley. It has a relatively short growing season and tends to be harvested in early March. Merlot isn’t very widely planted.
