Åbro was founded in 1856 in Vimmerby by Per W Luthander. Since 1898, the company has been owned by the Dunge family and is thus Sweden's oldest family - owned brewery. Today, Henrik Dunge is the managing director of the company, whose head office and brewery are still located in Vimmerby. The water for the beer is taken from the same source that has been used since the start in 1856.
