The Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength matured in ex-sherry casks, which are made of European oak. Because they were seasoned with fine sherry the whisky absorbed lots of the lush sherry flavors and received a nice dark color, too.

On the palate the strong influence of sherry and European oak stays in the foreground while dark chocolate, nuts and slightly spicy notes are a little less present. Due to the high alcohol content the dram has a certain power but appears silky and oily as well. The finish is long and surprisingly mild. It turns a bit dry and offers nuances of nuts, dark chocolate and even a hint of smoke.
